GRAND LAKE HOTEL POLICIES
Check-In: 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Please notify us for arrangements for earlier or later arrivals.
Check- Out: 10:00 am. If you need a later check out, please make arrangements in advance.
Payment: We accept cash, approved personal checks and Zelle. Room is not secured without a deposit. NO money orders.
Reservations: All reservations are made on a guaranteed basis. 50% is due 60 days prior to your arrival and the balance is due 30 days prior to your arrival. If a deposit was required it may be refunded within 14 days of your stay. Those without an advanced reservation, payment in full is due upon arrival. The hotel accommodates 11 guest.
Additional Guests: Rates are based on the room not the occupancy. There is no reduction for single occupancy. The use of the GLH is for registered guests only. In certain cases, additional guests and/or activities could constitute a special event rental at an additional cost or forfeiture of your deposit.
Cancellation: A refund credit will be issued if cancellation is received at least 30 days in advance. Deposit is forfeited if under 30 days. No cancellations honored within 48 hours and no refund of payments or deposits.
Smoking: We are a NON-SMOKING establishment which includes the porches. That includes vaping. However, smoking/vaping is permitted on the grounds and we ask that you not litter your cigarette material. Marijuana use is not permitted anywhere on the property at any time.
Food: Refrigerator(s) in the kitchen are for the use of our guests. We are not a bed and breakfast and you are granted "kitchen privileges." That means you (renters) are allowed to use the kitchen, dining room and cooking equipment for your meals. You are required to clean up after yourselves. A gas grill is available.
Pets: We are sorry but we cannot accommodate pets. Please do not ask. Pet boarding is available in nearby Alpena and Rogers City.
Common Areas: Tennis court is for tennis/pickelball only, proper foot attire required and for registered guests only. Feel free to use the fire pit, kitchen, dining room, lobby, and porch. Explore the Hotel and grounds and enjoy the property. Lights will be left on in the lobby, night lights in the kitchen and restrooms and a motion light in the driveway parking area.
Alcohol: Consumption of alcohol is permitted (bring your own), be responsible and no under age drinking.
Children: Please inquire about children.. Remember, the Hotel is a 112 years old. Please respect the property. As other guests may be on the premises; playing, running and loud voices in the hallway is not permitted. Please supervise their use of the lobby and game area in the dining room and clean up after them. No childcare is provided. Equipment for very young children such as a crib may be provided.
Parking: Parking is very limited and at your risk. Check with staff for any additional overflow parking requests.
Phone: There is no phone service or Internet at the Hotel. Use of Internet is usually via a cell phone "hot spot." Cable TV is available in the lobby. Any and all emergencies must be reported to staff.
Lake Activities: The Grand Lake Hotel has 162 feet of shoreline directly on Grand Lake. There is a dock and sun platform. Also on the lakeside of the property is a fire pit. Please burn the appropriate firewood and check with staff for its location and/or availability. No boat is included in your rental. However, rentals are available around the lake. You may dock your boat at our dock at your risk, provided space is available.
Event Rentals: Event rentals and room rentals are two different issues. Event rentals are for, but not limited to, family reunions, engagement party, bridal shower, rehearsal dinners, small weddings, baby shower, anniversary party, or corporate parties. Guests renting rooms and then engaging in similar activities to the above will be required to pay an additional Event Rental Fee.
Hazards: The hotel is a 112 year old facility in a rustic setting in the woods on the shore of Grand Lake. There are many trip hazards not limited to rocks, roots, holes, steps, decks, uneven pavement, docks, use of tennis courts etc. Use of the hotel is at your risk and you assume all responsibilities for you and or your guests.
Consideration: Quiet after 10:00 pm, please! Inside and out. Remember, we have seasonal and year round residents within a short distance of the Hotel. Voices carry a great distance here at the lake.
Laundry:There is no guest laundry available.
